Japan 2025 Photos Part 2 - Nerd Shopping

Day 2 was going to be rainy all day. So we decided it might just be the best day to sneak in as much Nerd shopping as possible, at least our initial pass.

Because it was furthest away from our hotel and almost completely enclosed we first headed to Nakano Broadway, a dense Shotengai famous for all of the anime figure, books, and classic toy shops (mostly Mandrake).

From Nakano we headed into Shibuya with the goal of hitting up the Nintendo store, Pokemon Center, and other stores clustered around the area. But to be honest we got lost in the train station for awhile... where we stumbled upon a ton of Jojos advertising.

But the real trap, the deadly trap... was the Nintendo Store.

Next door to the Nintendo store was the Capcom store. They did... not have much but they had some cool stuff to look at!

The next morning we were going to start out in Akihabara but maybe got distracted at the endless selection of treats in Tokyo Station.

Once in Akihabara we did some more shopping at some of the Nerdiest goddamn places in the world.

After a few hours of walking around, playing rhythm games, and trying for gactcha toys we needed to start to head south to Odaiba in order to make our reservation at Team Labs Planets. But on the way happened to be the Diver City Tokyo Plaza home of...

Unicorn Gundam

Gundam Base tokyo!

We had missed the launch of the new GQuuuuuuX suits by only a few days. But they still had all the GQuuuuuuX displays and stuff set up. Gundam Base was apparently insane the day the new kits launched because the entire store was cleared out and the procedure for getting in the store involved getting your photo taken so you can't buy a bunch of stuff and then get back in line to get more kits. They continued this policy despite the fact that all the GQuuuuuuX were sold out and there was no line to get into the store and most kits were sold out.... but hey, policy is policy.

Our final stop on day 3 was Team Labs Planets which we arrived at already exhausted from the way. But Teams Labs is consistently impressive and just a chill time... even if there are a million other people there at the same time. Unfortunately I didn't take a lot of photos because I took a video of the experience. Enjoy at the very bottom of the post.
